Scene 2
Pastor Chuck, Bill, Lester, Steve and men
Bill, Lester, and men gather around a table studying their Bibles. PASTOR CHUCK enters from the back.
PASTOR CHUCK: It’s all settled then. The women said that they’d be more than happy to provide dinner for the welcome service in two weeks. They’re so excited to share not only the Gospel with their neighbors, but their green bean casserole recipes.
LESTER: What do the ladies think of their new kitchen? I spent four hours yesterday scrubbing it, just so they’d be able to see their faces in every stainless steel appliance we purchased.
PASTOR CHUCK: They’re already planning the three-course meal, and they’re giving the brand new coffee pot a try right now. The really good stuff should be ready in just a few minutes.
STEVE: I thought I smelled something wholesome and comforting.
BILL: Now…about this Bible passage…look at this! Read this verse and tell me what you think.
LESTER: I never thought an old guy like me would be so hungry for words.
All the men, accept PASTOR CHUCK, lean in to look at Bill’s Bible.
PASTOR CHUCK [interrupting]: First, I have an announcement.
All the men turn to look at PASTOR CHUCK.
PASTOR CHUCK (continued, clearing throat): I’ve just been informed that the women, namely Betty and Ruby and Margaret, are requesting that we provide a little entertainment for the welcome service luncheon.
BILL: Entertainment? How can they expect the deacons to have any time for that? We have plans to discuss, decisions to make.
STEVE: Why do the guests need entertainment? I’ll see to it all of the ushers greet the visitors and make them feel comfortable and welcome.
PASTOR CHUCK: The ladies believe the entertainment will encourage them to come back.
LESTER: Come back? For what, a second helping?
BILL: Not food, you idiot…he means church.
STEVE: I thought the Gospel was powerful enough to do that on its own.
PASTOR CHUCK: Of course it is. But not every visitor will know the Gospel.
STEVE: Aren’t we sharing it with them during the church service? Isn’t that the point?
PASTOR CHUCK: But one message on just one Sunday might not be enough.
STEVE: But I really don’t think we need to worry about that. If we share the Truth, the Holy Spirit will do the rest.
PASTOR CHUCK: But it might not stick.
BILL: I’ll tell you one thing, Pastor. One Sunday or not, I ain’t dancing for no Ladies Aide.

IPBC meets Esther
Redeemer's Song Christ Family Theatre Productions introduces Team Leadership, a group consisting of students grades 9 to 12 (inclusinf a handful of our most dedicated college students) excited to share the Gospel with others while developing important, life-long leadership skills through the ministry of the performing arts. In January, Team Leadership will head to Inspiration Point Bible Camp to perform "For Such A Time As This" for family camp and IPBC staff. We are honored to share the ministry floor with these wonderful people, and look forward to the awesome fellowship we will experience while there!
And who can deny that we're also looking forward to the food! Bless you, IPBC!
